Being transparent about the use of AI in my work
How do you know this is Louise writing and not our friend GPT?
Before we start:
If a beige B2B service-based business is no longer for you, it’s time to stop playing things safe and move from no-where to noticed, you need a marketing strategy that actually works for you, your team and your budget.
I’ve had a spot open up this May to give you the inspiration and direction of a Chief Marketing Officer, without the long-term commitment or the price tag.
→ Apply for a free 30-min consultation
you’ll get 1-2 marketing tips you can start using straight away
advice on where to start and how to stop playing it safe
a clear direction for how marketing can help you attract and retain clients
how to upskill your team to market your business - even if they have never done marketing before
Yes, AI is taking over the world.
Do we want it to? No.
Do we still covet it like the last biscuit in the tin. Yes. Yes we do.
I am by no means anti-AI, in fact some of its usage and convenience I couldn’t do without now… But it does kind of give me the heebie-jeebies.
I’ll cover in more detail how I use AI to assist marketing in another post(s), but for now I just wanted to focus on one thing:
How do you actually know that this is Louise writing and not our friend GPT?
Well… first of all I use Claude.ai for my work… but semantics aside, it’s something I now often think about a lot when I am reading a post whether it’s long or short form. Is this actually a person or a robot?
There are a few usual giveaways:
Over Usage of Capitalisation on Words
AI’s love affair: the semi colon
⚡️🌟🚀 - so many emojis
Everything is ‘game changing’ or similar
The americanisation of words… someone didn’t proof read and get rid of the ‘z’ in ‘synergize’ (🤢) or forgot to add the ‘u’ in ‘colour’
Plus it all just feels a tad boring… like you’ve heard it all before somewhere.
And whilst I do use AI to help me with my marketing work, and I would actually encourage clients to do the same, so far I have never asked AI to write something in its entirety that I have not spent time prompting, refining and heavily re-writing... and I intend to keep it this way.
Keeping it real
So for here on Substack, I’m now going to add the following statements to each of my posts:
Inspired by AI - I’ve used some of the structure and sentence ideas to shape this post. Additional personal thoughts, anecdotes, opinions and specific language choices have been added by me.
AI reviewed - I’ve popped some of this through AI to help with sentence structures, readability or format, but the original work is my own.
AI exempt - This is 100%, unfiltered, Louise.
And today’s post - perhaps ironically - is:
AI exempt - This is 100%, unfiltered, Louise.
AI on your mind?
AI can certainly help with aspects of your B2B marketing, and this is something I often upskill clients in using after we’ve created a strategy. You can learn more about this when you book a free 30-min consultation.
As a reader of this post… what is the effect of knowing how involved AI was in creating the copy?
ATB,
Louise
